07 Monte
I just bought an 07 Monte Carlo LS 3.5.I cannot believe it is such a sled. This car has no torque and the HP is way to little to push this big coupe around.Whats wrong with the 3.5 engine?I traded an 05 Honda EXL V6 Coupe for this car to drop my car payments. My Accord runs circles around this car.

Hi Doug.
Sorry to see the 3.5 isn't living up to your expectations. But I can understand why. You went from a V6 Honda coupe to a V6 Monte Carlo. A bigger, heavier car. A bigger car obviously needs more horsepower to go just as fast. But it seems to me this should have been obvious in the test drive. Is the car just starting to do this now? Or was it always like this? If not, there may be something wrong. I haven't heard very many complaints about the 3.5, but there's always a possibility you got a bad engine.

Maybe it's just you ... lol
Well there's nothing wrong with my car ...
I know when I punch the gas pedal she moves with no probelms 0-60 in a bout 7.45 seconds last I tested her ...
Now I'm not saying I have a hot rod ..

I doubt the ricer would run circles around the Monte Carlo, but what did you expect? You traded in a car that weighs less with more horsepower and expected it to perform the same?
RICER - 240 hp, 2994 lb curb weight.
Monte - 211 hp, 3461 lb curb weight.
I notice you don't mention anything about the ride quality, how is that, ricer to Monte? How about the price differential, ricer to Monte? How about insurance? How about MPG? Also, can your particular rice model run on ethanol, like the Monte can?
Sounds to me like you will always and forever be devoted to RICE, so you should probably stick with that. OK?
I know I shouldn't respond this way, it just burns me up when people come here to bash Monte Carlo's. If you want to bash them, go to the RICER forums, Mustang forums, etc, etc,and bash away.

Wow! A little pent up aggression there Mark?
Breathe Mark, Breathe. [sm=imsmilin.gif] (Just kidding man)
I think your points are right. I notice a lot of import buyers just can't get used to domestic cars. Simply don't like them. And that's their perogative I guess. Sorry about your bad experience with the Monte Carlo, Doug. I sincerely hope you find happiness with your next vehicle if you decide to get rid of the Monte Carlo.
