Default 06 headlight chrome

Has anyone else had a problem with the chrome in the headlamps turning grey on their 2006 Monte Carlo? Mine started after a few thousand miles.I just had new ones put in under warranty last week. The car just turned 8000 miles.the dealer said the heat buildup most likely is causing it.By the way, don't wait until the warranty runs out,new units list for $259 each.

must be a defect in the headlights to allow moister to get into them to cause the chrome to corode

No issues with mine yet, but it does sit in a heated garage. Will have to keep an eye on them!

How far up north?

As of right now no problems with mine.

Wonder if a small drain hole drilled in the bottom of the headlight buckets would relieve this problem? It would let themoisture wick out.

I have never seen any moisture inside the lights. The part that turned grey was the flat ledge above the low beams. You didn't really notice it in the sun because of the glare, but in the garage you could really see it.

hmmm.. I'll have to check mine out... I've got 23k miles but haven't really looked at the lights for that...

I do know that I don't get any moisture in them though... and I've already been through 1 winter with the car...

I'm so glad you brought that up. I thought it was just a visual "anomalie" that I was witnessing but mine do it too. No water in them just some "greying" on the upper parts of the lights.
