Default 00 to 06 front end conversion question

Hey guys, new to the forum, and new to Monte carlos. I have a 2000 monte that I just picked up at a salvage auction, and I wanted to know if anyone has converted the front end of a 00-05 style to the newer 06 style. The frame rails and the rest of the car looks structurally identical, I'm thinking its as easy as new body panels, a different header panel due to the headlights, and a headlight wiring harness swap? I figured I'd ask because if I gotta give the car a new face, it may as well be a face lift for a couple extra bucks. Thanks.

I'd be going with the aftermarket LED tail lights. Other than the tail lights and obviously wheels differences The cars from 2000 to the present have identical sheet metal from the fenders back. Hopefully I'll find out what differences there are to hanging the fron end and make it work......should be plug and play considering the frame must be the same.

Good question. I would stick with parts from the LS though.

The frames are different on the 06 LT3, LTZ, and SS, so don't know if the sheet metal is different in any way.

Thanks for the info. From what I can tell through pictures alone the sole differences between the LT3, LTZ, and SS are just the front amd rear bumpers , and side skirts. I'm geussing someone out there has swapped an ss front bumper onto their LS to make it look sportier, no? Does the ss have different headlights? thanks.

I'm sure many parts are interchangeable, I am just wondering about the attachment points.

true, there may be a few bug in the road. I think I'll sit down with a keystone manual (aftermarket body man parts) and try and spot differences with the radiator support, etc. Do you know if there are different versions of headlights for the 06- monte's? thanks.

Thats a first. sure it can be done how much you wanna spend.
I mostly heard of folks trying to change from th 06-07 to 00-05.

I've thought about this swap as well, but never got very far because 06-07 parts are still hard to find used since the cars are so new. I like the newer look 100 times better than the 00-05 front end.

I'm pretty sure that the headlights were all the same in 06-07.

Yes all front end parts are the same on the Montes. Also headlights and the hood are the same as on the 06-07 Impala.
