"SS" Headrests in a Monte Carlo?

Has anyone thought about adding "SS" headrests from a 06/07 "SS" Impala into their 06/07 Monte? I think that would be an awesome upgrade!

I agree, I think the embroiderd jobs look super, a real nice classytouch for the SS models.Really sets the car apart from the other models. Don't know why the Impala has them and the Monte doesn't. IMHO the Monte deserves them more so than the Impala.

If you were to add them, I guess you would have to buy a set from the Stealership. I'd hate to see what that would cost. (But I would like to know if anyone can find out)

I called about 6 months ago to see if they were available and they were, but only in the "grey" colour and were not available in Ebony yet, I remember when I called before they were like 160 a piece Canadian, so obviously a little cheaper for those down south.

I almsot get cost at the dealership, so we will see what I can get them for now, and hopefully they are available in black this time.

I suppose cain you wont like this mod either... LOL

There's gotta be after market places that do that. I think if you can remove your head rest you can send it away to get it emroidered somewhere.

yes, unless you find someone really friendly that does that, they're usually too busy to have the time of day for that or they rip you off big time, i priced out something like that for my dakota when i had it, and he wanted 500 bucks to have the dodge logos' embroidered into the headreasts... i said ok no thanks

Ok
I just got home from work, Cost is $140 Canadian per side for leather embroidered headrests. Not bad I dont think. I ordered 2 of them. To get them custom stiched would cost a forture, almost the same as buying 2 new..

Lansing has 36 ebony in stock, well, 34 now!

yeah, but what about the seatbelt guide that is on the Monte headrest?? the impala's don't have it... or does that piece come off and you can put it on the impala headrest??

it'd be interesting to find out, since I've wanted to do this since 2005 when I got my monte... I said all the same things that were mentioned here - "why on a 4-door family sedan, and not the Monte??!!" "why aren't they even offered on the monte??!!" LOL

and back then when I asked about getting them, there was no black, and they were $140 each U.S.

Yeah I thought about the headrest guides, they are actually 1 piece attached into the monte headrest ,so you cant swap them over. But I dont really care about them, I think it will look amazing and have a cleaner look with just the SS headrests...

you can take the seat belt guides off the seats but honestly unless you like to crawl in the back seat to get your seat belt all the time they are nice to have.

But i would love to see them when you get them . Might have to do this.

but as far as getting those guides off. they are a pain in the azz they have those round speed fastners on them (forget the actual name right now) but in order to ge tthem off you need to get under them with a screw driver and walk them up the post all the way around. and when they get high enough you can use the guide to help also.
had to do this when i put the screens in my seat and yeah they did not go back on there after that LOL

but i think if i were to buy those head rest would buy new screens for them also. i can see the look on the iwfes face seeing me bring those home to cut them up LOL

When I checked last night, the seat belt guides on my car at least are attached to the head rest. I did not study it up too much, but I was not able to get them off, they are really held on there somehow..

they are held in with the small star clips. if you look at the bottom of the headrest you will see them. they are made to hold against the round bar that go in to the seat.
they are not to tuff to get off but they are not fun to do it either.

in most cars you can get them out, but you may destroy your existing head rest to get them out.

i dont even use them so it wouldn't bother me much at all

RE: "SS" Headrests in a Monte Carlo?

you wont destroy them if you take your time.

you would be hard pressed to mess them up unless you use a chain saw to work on them LOL

Could you not use the seatbelt guide from the Impala that fastens to the door pillar. I don't know if there would be enough room for it or not in the Monte???

Don't they just slide right out? Are they making them nowadays that they do not come out if you pull them up all the way?

The headrest is really designed to be used as apassive restraint to minimize the damage cause by whiplash injury in rearend collision, not as a comfortability option.

The headrests come out no problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But ths seatbelt guides seem to be moulded right into the headrest somehow. Almost like they are one piece. I already had the headrests off and for the life of me I could not get the plastic guide off..

06 can you take a photo of the bottom of your head rest for me?
i belive we have a miss understanding on my part here. Mine are the 6th gen and not the 7th gen. they may have changed them but i was thinking they were the same.

as far as the Imp. guide i have noclue what it looks like. but hey next year this time i should be abel to help out more as i will be states sided so if worse comes to worse i can go look at on in a dealer ship . lol
