I wax mine, and always works out well.

 

Cbetts, the Scratch-X worked just as great on the clear portion of the back panel as it did for the black. Go a head and used it for the clear and black.

That's one sharp Z34! I am SO jealous!

 

I tried the ScratchX but it didn't work too well..but it was a fairly old bottle and I'm wondering if that may have had something to do with it.
However, I just used "Back to Black" from Mothers on it tonight and it worked amazing

I came to realize, that using the Scratch-X to polish the panel is MUCH MUCH easier if you regularly wax it first.

I use Meguairs 26. So, it works best of your apply the Meguars 26, let it set up, rub it off THEN use the Scratch-X...work that in until you have your desired shine

 

I have a '99 Monte Z34, and to get the faded micro-scratched black plastic trunk panel shiny and clear again, I took off the panel from the trunk lid, and painted it with clear glossy spray paint designed to spray on aluminum wheels and plastic hubcaps. Rustoleum sells this type of paint, or go to auto parts store such as Pep Boys, Autozone, etc.

Oh, that plastic trunk panel looks much, much better than new!!! It now has an extremely high gloss wet look!!! And the paint keeps the plastic panel from scratching. If you apply a chemical to keep it glossy, you have to keep applying the chemical over time, to keep it that way. Painting the plastic trunk panel with a clear glossy spray paint (for plastic surfaces) is a permanent solution.

Well it made my panel shiny but u can see it still faded so i guess i need to paint it.

 

My Mom had a 99 and it was really dull. Just had it painted.

Back in the fall, I got a whole new panel(mine was really scratched up). I scraped off all of the letters to polish it even better. It looked like it was on a brand new car. I also added a red Z34 Bowtie.
