affordable FWI

I know I don't post on here much anymore, but found that this works and figured I'd share with my brethren.
I did the l26 UIM mod to my car last summer, since then, my sleeper FWI / stock intake tubing wasn't fitting right, so I was looking around for a cheaper solution that didn't involve PVC pipe. I found this. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...d=330980928037 Its a cold air intake for a 3800 v6 camaro, I put it on my car with no cutting whatsoever and it put the filter into the bumper. Attachment 30844 .. good throttle response with no top end, so I cut it to the FWI length... much better. Even power throughout the RPMS. So in short, $30 can get you a FWI. Thoughts? |

 Hi `Dustin, It's great to see you online & thanks for sharing  Sure hope we see you more often...How's life going for you & `Eleanor ? Look forward to your reply :) |
Tis going great space dude.
Eleanor kinda sits through the summer months this year as my wife and I carpool to work in her air conditioned impala, I had to put down augi two weeks ago now... she was 17 years old, arthritic, blind and deaf.... Other than that, too Eleanor to Marta and she passed way easy, so another year of keeping her. How are things for you, my friend? |
Hi `Dustin & thanks for your reply & update.
I'm sorry about the loss of your `augi , it's always sad :( to lose someone you love after so many years.. I hope that you consider adopting another pet > there are so many that need a home + love... I really like those new rims on Eleanor, they change the whole appearance on your Monte.... Wish you & yours a super fun/safe eve & WeekEnd... Look forward to your future return to the MCF  |
Wow real cheap. Where does the filter sit?
|
Nice, wonder how well that would work on the 3100 if the battery was relocated.
|
Dustin!
Glad to see you pop on! And great find for the 5th gen Monte guys!! |
I wonder, does the size differences between an L26 and L36 UIM make a difference with this FWI mod?

Yes, it will work for a relocated battery. I put mine in the trunk, I'll put up a trunk pic tomorrow. I'm at work till 2am.
Like I said, I cut it so it now sits where a FWI would... before I cut it, it was under the driver headlight right over the vacuum ball... thing that is right in front of the wheel... it should work on 6th gens as well as 5th. Not sure, the l26 UIM is a bit longer than OEM, but the intake was long enough to possibly work for the OEM Mani. |
