Default Yeah so my water pump needs replaced

Well I have been losing coolant at a staggering rate for the last month or so. I thought I traced the leak to my lower intake manifold, which actually was leaking. I replaced that which was a major pain in the ***. I was still losing coolant afterward and I began losing it faster and faster. Well today while under the hood to get my fog lights working again, I got the drop light and scoped things out a bit. With the engine running I found the leak. The weep hole on the bottom of the water pump is just POURING water out the bottom. Well theres my leak I have been looking for. I could never find any puddles on the ground cause I never left it running in one spot for too long. Ill have to tear that out now. I need to replace my A/C compressor so since they are right next to each other, Ill just do them both at the same time. I guess ill be eating alot of ramen noodles for a while.

That sucks Matt...at least you can fix it yourself, so you won't have to pay the stinken shops hundreds in labor cost.

Enjoy all that Top Ramen. LOL JK :P

I prefer the beef Ramen noodles.

the water pump on my 06 SS went out on me not too long ago. $700.

Apparently the coolant they put in my car likes to turn to jelly. Flush a coolant system at 50k? Naaah, I never needed to on my old Pontiac (160k miles).

51k? $700 for a new pump.

You'll see we mention flushing every other year, even at 30k a few times... :P

In California, I wonder why they don't just fill them with 80% water.

No not really. Its at the front of the engine bay so its not to burried. I have to remove the coolant resevour, the PCM and some electrical relays and I should have good access to it.
