Default What have I done????

Hey folks,
I replaced my factory wires for a set of Taylors from Summit.
2000 MC SS, 260000k on the dial.
Now I've gone from stuttering at 80 km/h to zero power.
No down shift available.
I've checked and re-checked but I can't find a thing out of place.
BUT the ABS and check engine lights are now on.

Please, please, someone put me out of my missery....

thanks for your time,
Ferg

The only thing I can think of is the brake booster disconnect, check your vaccum lines and make sure they are ok.... and the last thing I can think of is making sure the fuel rails and fuel inlet is ok.

Thanks for the reply Guys, checked the booster and it's still connected.
Getting kinda stressed, have to go to work tomorrow.
And of coarse I'll already trashed the old wires.
Does the computer have any issues with this? A reset or something?
When I accelerate from a stop the tranny sounds like it's in top gear.
I can manual shift it but the responce isn't crisp like it should be.
And no more shakes at 80km/h.

There is one 2 pin plug next to the alternater hanging loose but it's really dirty, can't think it was connected, and I can't find a mate to it.

thanks again,
Ferg

can you run to autozone or something and have the codes read? sounds like it would be something simple if it just started happening after you swapped the plugs

That'd work but everything is closed.
Canadian holiday.
do you know the on/off sequence to have the engine light blink the code?
and a list of these codes?

thanks again for your help,

idk when my fuel rail was leaking i didnt have many problems, low mileage and a strong gas smell... without the codes its difficult to help. Just tell us exactly what u did, step by step and whats happening now.

the begining.
finished 3rd night shift.
removed/replaced front wires one at a time.
noticed that the coil pack were numbered.
removed all three rear wires.
replaced all three.
fired it up, ran rough.
rechecked the back three wires and had 4&6 reversed.
started it up, nice and smooth.
took it for a burn and it won't start in low gear when placed in D.
it reall labours hard.
opened the hood again and checked contact of plug wires.
the plugs are new, had them changed in a shop during the safety.

went through the reset on the radio, no change.
reved it and the limiter comes in at 4500.

when I changed the plug wires I did not remove the dog bones, I managed to squeeze my hand down the back.

SMRT I know.

also the reference to the 260000 k ment kilometers, sorry, missed the m in km. hands and arms are still sore from reaching down the back of the motor.

thanks agian for your support and I did like the humour.

First let me say thanks and kudos for your help!!!
The local mechanic was able to make time for me and $300.
He replaced the cat and had to run a temp 12V wire to the tranny.
This guy is busy and I appreciated his time.
I go back next week for him to trace the defect in the wiring.
He cleared the codes and for 260000KM, the old girl still turnes the tires!!!
18 " CASINOS.

Thanks again for your collective help and good humour!!!!
