Default What brand of oil is best?

Before my next oil change, I was wanting some opinions on oil brands. Ive been using regular ol' Valvoline for the past 4 years, and it has worked just fine. However, the past several changes, I've had to add quite a bit more oil in between changes...like I'm using up too much. Is there a better oil that I should be using, maybe more towards performance that wouldn't have this issue? It's not really a big deal, just wondering if there's a better recommended oil for my LS4.

The problem you're experiencing isn't because of the brand of oil you're using. It's going to happen no matter what with your/our cars. The issue is because of how the engine handles DOD. Oil goes into the intake. Getting a tune that disables DOD is the only way you won't see your engine burning oil.

I use full synthetic Valvoline. No problems.

I wasn't aware that DOD burned oil, so I just now did some research and it appears that it's true. Good info to know RickAKATed10.

No problem. It's a known issue for the LS4. Sucks!

You can go back and forth between conventional and synthetic anytime you want. No harm will come from going from one to the other.
