Default Waking up the 3.1 a little!!

I've owned my 1997 LS since new( 130,000 miles). The gas milage has dropped off somewhat and she don't gain speed as quick as she used to (Passing). She don't smoke and always runs at 190 degress. My son installed a K/N filter outside the factory box filter for me, and all it seemed to do was make my acceleration louder. Any chips i might install that have really worked for others without going broke? Regards...........Tom H

I am running the original plug wires and coils. Would a new oxogen sensor make a performance difference?....Regards....Tom H

i would change plugs, wires, fuel filter, clean the air filter, and a clogged 02 can affect performance a little, burns a lot more gas if its no good

Wait a minute, you said that your son installed a K&N filter outside the factory box filter ? Does that mean that you are running 2 filters? I'm confused.

i recommend an tune-up. on these engines you should only use ac delco spark plugs. depending on mileage, you should replace the wires, pcv valve and all filters that are dirty. it also would hurt to run some top engine cleaner through the throttle body to get rid of any carbon build up on it which could cause a rough idle.
