Default V8 in 5th Gen. Monte Carlo??

Has anyone heard of someone dropping a 327 or 350 in a 5th generation monte (2000-2005)?? Is it even possible without MAJOR adjustments??

No, but I have seen them in the 6th gen (2000-2005) Monte's. One was the 5.3 DOD engine and the other was a NorthStar.

Here's a link for a 5th Gen (1995-1999) http://mymonte.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?t=10729

Also here is an LS1 tucked into a Grand Prix which is very close:http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/tm.as...eck=1020906974

that LS1 needed and used a lot of One off parts. cost wise, its not worth it. but it is deff original. for the price you could do a well built L67 and if you have just the std 3800 without the blower, you can still add a SC too it and build it up cheeper then a V8 swap. also as of right now you can make more power from the L67 then you can from the new 5.3 V8

if your looking for more power strap a turbo on. they have ready made kits.

i realize that the ls1 would need a lot of one off parts. but what if (with some customization new drivetrain, lower engine mounts, new tranny, etc.) i could throw a 350 small block in there. if that is possible couldnt that make more potential power than any other option?

You keep mentioning 350 small block so I think you're referring to an older engine out of an engine out of a 1990 or earlier Camao, something carborated, and common to the muscle car era. I don't think lower motor mounts will cut it due to the vertical size of the engine. With the transmission and still being FWD you would have to rip off the hood. I think you would need to convert it to RWD to do what you want. This has been done and I saw pictures on another forum. Total cost was around $25,000 but it is a cool setup.

the best HP for cost in these cars right now is the L67 Supercharged 3800 there are three known cars runing in the 9 sec 1/4 mile range!

yes the V8's will make more power with th same mods, but... the price to swap in that engine and get it to work will counter the cost savings. and things like headers and exhaust will still have to be fabricated specificly for this app weather it is FWD or RWD.
and if it does cost about $25,000 for a RWD v8 swap, compare to $5000 for engine trany for the L67 swap installed and then you have $20,000! for toys.....lets see i'll choose......

the key here is figure out what goals you are looking to meet. if you want something original... do the V8 if you want something fast get the L67 atleast one of those 9 sec cars is runing a SC and a turbo!!! now how cool is that? not many people can say "i have a turbo'd Supercharged car!"

sweet guys. thanx for the input. i appreciate it.

i see that milzy has a L67 swap with tranny and fuel pump for around $3,900. you think that would be the best way to go?

the L67 would tear up my sissy of a tranny.[8D]

Make sure your Trany is a 4T65E-HD. If it is a 4T65 standard... either send it in to ZZP or a shop to get it upgraded or bump up to a race tranmission. Only the 2004 Supercharged came with the HD version.. not sure if they put them standard in the 2005 year.
