Unichip.

Anyone here ever use this system? I have a local performance shop that sells it, and it seems like a good system.. basically adding another controller on front of the ECM to map the fuel delivery for the most efficiency, power, etc.. has selectable settings, like a valet mode and track/performance mode.
I may try this out in my '02 SS

Don't chip your car. I tried the Jet Performance chip on my car, and fried my ECM. Not to mention, you will get better, more personalized results by getting a custom tune.
Since you have a 3800, you will have no problems finding some place to tune it.

But isn't the JET chip pre-programmed? The Unichip isn't a pre-program system. It's done by a professional tuner and takes samples of the system every 250 RPM or so and then the mapping is done to each vehicle individually. Basically because every car is different slightly.. but they also state that this kind of upgrade is generally done after most mechanical upgrades have been performed because each upgrade alters the system in some way.
That's kind of why i've been looking at this.. it's custom-mapped.
How long after using a JET did it fry your ECM?

The second I started the car it was fried!
And if this Unichip is custom programmed, what is the point of getting it? Just get a custom PCM tune, where they plug into your OBDII port, and make the tune. Then you are not adding any external type things to your ECM. I don't see the point in getting a chip that you need to tune, when you can just tune the PCM directly.

That website is broken- none of the vehicle links work- how much does it cost?
I agree 100% with the others- don't try to reinvent the wheel, the 3800 already has PLENTY of pcm support. Either spend $100 and pick up a pre-programmed pcm for your mods. Or spend $300-500 (used- new) on a Powrtuner or HPTuners and change anything you could possibly ever want in the pcm. Or in the middle of those two (say $200ish)- you could find someone local to do a custom dyno tune.
3800's just aren't a good market for those kind of chips and such.
