yes there are actually a few people i know who have turbo'd their 3.4L DOHC motor. the main point of failure is the trany... if the engine is in good shape you will be fine.
the site to find all that info is 60degreev6.com plenty of info about this application. if i didnt have as many miles as i do i would go turbo myself. the dohc is a great motor to turbo. good head flow, just lacks in the low end in stock form but a T would fix that easy.

yes, i do know that its been done, but in a monte carlo, what ever generation a 2005 would be. just looking for how and where the turbo is mounted, and if they used a reverse plenum, and how they compinsated for leaning out the motor. just basic ideas out there done to a monte, i've been on v60 before and i got con****led on where to go to look for anything, basically didnt know how to use the site. haha

the V6 in the 00-05 monte isnt a 3.4 it is the 3400 motor... the 3.4 is the dohc like my motor... they are both 3.4L but the designation on the engine covers are diff.
as for tuning... you cant go by what others have done... it has to be specific for your car. you will need either a PCM tuner, or a bunch of stand alone equipment to dial it in correctly... if not you may get it to run but its days will be numberd. this is the problem with so many peoples cars that are modding they never get things dialed in and tuned correctly and the car does not last.
i would say a wide band O2 is a must. then either a pcm tuner or at very least a MAF translator (basicly changes the signal from the maf sensor.) these will get you in the ball park but not give that great of a tune. a pcm tuner is the correct way to do it.

thanks for the input z34phoenix, i guess i got alot of saving up to do for a tuner now! and 3.4 is a 3400, 3.4 liters, i was just being short, the line goes, 3.1 (mfpi) 3100/3.1 (sfi) same block, different heads/intake and runs on obd2, and 3400/3.4 sfi thats just bigger heads and stroke, now a 3.4 DOHC is what you got.

How would a turbo'd 3400 hold up? i know that all of them 60degree engines like to throw fits with the LIMgaskets, head gaskets and cracking heads from personal experience... wouldn't addingboost just speed up the process?

am new to this forum, but am not new to monte carlo lol, the 00-05 have and LA1 as their 3.4, it is 3.4 correct but the 3.4 from the z34 is a dohc (very different engine) it pumps out 240 horse the LA1 is a 3.4 ohv which pumps out 180 horse, soo the 3.4 dohc has 4 valves per piston (not 100% sure) and 2 cams on top of em valves, the LA1 has 2 valves (pretty big valves if u ask me lol) per piston and 12 pushrods working the valves
