Default transmission question

since it seems like my tranny is feeling shaky lately, i might need to do a rebuild or have it looked at. i know it costs quite a chunk of $$ to get that done. Since i would need to do that, i was thinking about putting in the HD (04 +) trannys in mine instead of rebuilding the stock one.

Would i need to do anything special to get this done? or could i simply just swap out the tranny? It will fit no problem right? anyone done this with any complications?

Hopefully i can find a good used HD tranny and try to work a deal to scrap the stock one so it dont cost as much. Might as well get a stronger one right? I do plan to super or turbocharge it in the future anyways.

thanks!

Default RE: transmission question

actually, zzp makes a HD upgrade to add to my non HD tranny. would this be best, along with getting my transmission checked out? As i was reading, i was trying to figure out if i should upgrade the torque converter. my car has 60,000 on it. Also, if anyone could explain what the different gear ratios would do for me? i've never understood gear ratio's. I like balanced gears, but i would like to see better launches....any suggestions?
