Frank, I'll convince my dad to buy your Monte! I was explaining to him how he could find solid deals on these newer solid cars.

Since this is a trans thread, I'd like to ask if anyone has experience a rather abrupt, premature jump into the next gear that causes the car to lag? (00'-05) Anyone know what's up? New trans or new clutch? Frank, what makes you worry about 4th??

Shift Solenoids typically go bad and cause those bumping into next gear problems.

A good site to learn about our transmissions and common problems: tripleedgeperformance.com

Darn...... Question, could the PCM on a 2000 to 2002 be tuned for that 03+ tranny?... Thanks,

I believe you have to run a .bin file from those cars, and that .bin file might mess with other stuff related to your car, I am not 100% as I haven't dived fully into tuning yet

hidden problem? lol :p
no hidden problems with my monte... i just want something a little newer. i love my monte but i dont want to keep spending money on problems that i may have with it later on. it's getting close to 170k miles, car is from up north so it has its fair amount of rust. i already had my rear wheel well fixed which was the worst haha
and i wouldnt call it "starting again from scratch" i love working on my car and just making it mine

im not worried about 4th, i just basically need a better trans lol one that doesnt shift hard, slips or sometimes doesn't even shift into the next gear :p i think all the solenoids in it are going bad :p
