Default Tranny cuts in and out

My transmission will cut in and out while driving. I will pull over and it will work again sometimes I will have to turn the car on and off. And it seems to work almost every time. What could this be? I have changed fluid and filter everything was fine. I seem to think it has to be electrical.
Also it's a 2000 Ss

it sounds like your gears are worn. that's what happened in my 03. the first thing i did was a fluid and filter change. didn't see barely any metal shavings in the fluid so i thought i was safe. but that wasn't the case. the shavings were so small that the filter was catching them all, therefore making it unknown to my eyes how bad the gears were getting until i had it rebuilt. i lost overdrive first. there was no hard shifting or anything, i just could feel it not shift properly and my rpms weren't right for the speeds and what not. i drove the car for another 9 months (needed time to save up for the rebuild) before it started to feel like i was losing 3rd gear. still didn't have any hard shifting then. my trans guy said my gears were shredded to nothing. i would take it to a trany mechanic. they can hook it up to a special scanner and drive the car with the scanner on telling them everything that is going on inside to pinpoint exactly what is wrong. not sure of your cost in your area for something like that but around here in PA its an average of $60
