Default Tranny...

I did a thread a few weeks ago about my 05 SS doing perky shifts into R and D. Now the past couple weeks the shifting motion and feel while driving have become a little more noticeable. It isn't slamming or slipping but you feel it a lot more than before, mostly in 1st and 2nd, hardly ever in 3rd and 4th. And it doesn't always do it. I checked the dipstick and the pan for flakes but I've found none. The fluid is normal colored and doesn't smell/burn but it runs up the stick a couple inches passed the last dot marker. Maybe there is too much? Maybe a bad solenoid or sensor? Or maybe needs a flush? I figured I'd see what you guys think before paying a dealership $125 for a diagnostic just to assume I need a new transmission right off the bat like they always do. It has 54k miles.

The tranny that the 6th and 7th generation has is about as worthless as a Sebring... They're really not built to handle the HP we get with our cars so they tend to be the first thing to go, but with a rebuild the problems should be fixed with hardened clutches, new solenoids all the beneficial upgrades that GM put out... So i wouldn't be surprised if you needed a rebuild, that's how mine started messing up and I ended up ruining my transmission...

I figured as much, I was just hoping it was one of those rare cases where something was just plugged or clogged, lol. I know what I'm spending my tax return on... again >

I'm having issues with my Tranny on my 01 SS too... . It won't shift out of 1st until I hit about 40 mph. It's not all the time, but about half of the time it does do it. Everything else is fine though... Any advice???

As weird as it sounds, it NEVER does it if I run it hard. It usually occurs when I'm just cruising around 26.5-3k. It feels like it doesn't want to catch, and there's like a pause.

Unless im missing something here, for you to be going 40 mph in 1st gear your RPM's would be above 5k, easy. Perhaps your tranny is slipping a bit going into 2nd and you don't notice it actually shift?

I'm just horrible at explaining it because I'm at school and away from my car. Lol. So since it's been a week since I've driven it, it's kind of tough to explain. I felt like 2-3k rpm's was what I was going. I NEVER floor it because I am scared of GM's Trannys. But yeah, in cruising speed, I hear my motor revving, and when it revs to shift gears, it stays in the "Shift mode" for more than a couple of seconds before it actually gets into 2nd gear. I'm terrible at explaining things. Lmao.

Also, does anyone know of a different tranny that can be used in a MC besides the 65E? This is my 2nd one this year, and this one is going... . My buddy said that he put a 700r4 in his last year, but I have a tough time believing that since that's a RWD tranny and his Monte isn't.

Ok. Better explanation. At about 2.6, the car acts like it doesn't want to shift when it is supposed to. Instead of taking the normal .65 seconds to shift, I would have to wait about a second and a half. Another guy on the forum tells me that it may be a 1-2 shift solenoid. What do you guys think?
