I have an 01 monte carlo 3.4. The top speed is 105mph, is the a way i can get that deleted? Thanks

 

the top speed for modern cars is set by the PCM, which is the comptuer that basically runs the car. you can buy a programmer for a laptop if you have one of those or a handheld tuner. but me, i live just noth of Durham, NCthat has a dyno shop with the program to retune my car. You can have your car retuned, change the shift points, set the timing a little differently, tuen for 93 octane, etc. by doing os, you can pick up power and remove the top speed limiter. i picked up 3 tenths of a second in the 1/8th mile just be retuning my computer

 

damn, about how much did that cost for a pcm retune on the dyno?

 

$350... if it sounds like a lot, keep in mind a Hypertech tuner is $400 and the programs for a laptop are about the same... now if you plan on doing a lot of moding or really like to fine tune... its not the wya to go at all.

 

I wish there was a dyno around here I could do that with to my car. I mean 113 is still pretty quick but I wish I could go faster if I wanted too. Also 3 tenths in and 1/8 that never hurts either. Have any clue what yours runs in the 1/4? I've never ran mine in the 1/4 but I've raced a Mustang Gt that runs 15.0-15.1's all day at the track and I was infront of him everytime we raced. He was getting off the line and he said his car was running perfect and just like it does at the track.

 

yea i've been looking into places where you ship your PCM and they send it back tuned but i'm still hoping to find someone locally that can do the tune

 

What is the speed limiter set for on a 03 SS?
I have been up to 130 and no speed limiter

 

seems like it was 129 or something... 125, something, i dunno. if you got your car used, its possible its already tuned

as for the quarter mile... i'm looking to go up to virginia in march or so to a quarter mile about 80 miles from here and see what she'll do. i'm hoping around 15.5

 

there was a place a while ago off Main St.across from Monicheals(sp) pizza. the first engine it blew up. and then the next car got loose on the dyno.

 

I remember that. What was it called again, can't seem to remember?
