Default Start problems..

Okay this isn't a huge deal, the car still runs fine and doesn't die or anything like that while driving, I just out synthetic oil in there andsometimes the temp might get to the middle bar, one of my friends that knows his way around GM cars and trucks thinks I might have put a little too much oil in but not too much. Anyways, when I start the car, from time to time the car will rumble as if it is a 350 V8 or something, the only way to fix it is to push down the gas a little then it goes away, and sometimes on startup(this hasn't happened in a while) the car will die but it starts right back up after. Other than that the car runs good. Any ideas?

Hi `Brendan,
A few questions to maybe help our tech member's help you ?
1. Can't you check your oil level with your dip stick ? (it's either 2 much, or not enough) lol
2. How many miles on your Monte ?
3. Do you have any mod's (If so post them)
Please respond & hopefully someone will have a suggestion to your problem (?)
I know that sometimes you can get a bad tank of gas that can
cause same or similar symptoms or moisture in your tank ?
p.s. I'm confused by
put a little too much oil in but not too much
>

Good Luck & I hope a member can help you (?)

1. Can't you check your oil level with your dip stick ? Yeah it says it's full, but
my friend thinks a 3800 is 4.4-4.5 quarts, I probably put around 4.6-4.8 in
2. How many miles on your Monte ? 171k
3. Do you have any mod's? No mods other than my head unit.

I know that sometimes you can get a bad tank of gas that can
cause same or similar symptoms or moisture in your tank? This happens after a hot start though.

And what I meant by too much oil but too much, is that he said it shouldn't be too much to cause a serious problem, but he thinks there's more than there should be.

The oil prob isnt causing your start issues... but if you think you have a little too much in there just open the drain plug and let some out...

Clean the sensors on your Throttle Body.

MAF ONLY gets MAF cleaner!!!

IAC valve is probably caked with carbon.

I'm confused on what you think it is lol. The throttle body sensors, the MAF, or the IAC? I'll probably clean that IAC first thing I do when I get the chance.

Do you have an LS? lol.

The TB on the 3.8 holds the MAF and IAC, that's why I said it

I figured that out later. If I had a 3.8 series III it would be a different story though cause everything is in one piece.

I cleaned the IAC and that seemed to fix the problem.

^It definitely does not look like that anymore, lol.

Cleaning might only be temporary. If it is and you do a full replacement of it it would be good to grab a new TB gasket, and just remove the TB and fully clean the whole thing at the same time.
