Default Stage 2 Performance

Hey guys, im going to do a stage 2 performance package on my car to see what I can make out of the 3400. The first thing i saw was the milzy package.

this is what comes with:
Kit includes:
-MMS Stage 2 heads
-MMS Stage 2 cam
-MMS Complete heads and cam install kit
-MMS ported intake manifolds
-MMS Stage 2 PCM
-MMS 180 t-stat
-MMS 36lb injector and harness kit
-MMS chromemoly pushrods
$2,749.99

im wondering what else i should probably get with this build and if theres a cheaper place to get these parts. links would be best.

im looking to start buying parts early.

It looks pretty cool but it's on the expensive side of things too. Just keep in mind that a turbo build would be pretty similar in price and give you much better gains.

Either way, I like where you're going with the Monte. Performance is fun

That's probably not a good idea either, if you're going to go through all the work of changing the cam- I'd stick the cam in for the power adder first; rather than hope the NA cam grind works well with the turbo.

I agree- have you looked into what power people are putting down with just those mods? If you're serious about getting a goat or G8, I'd save all those hours of labor for relatively minimal gains- take the $3k and put that toward the car fund. Heck, I've seen used goats locally for $11k to 20k; averaging about $15-16k- and you'd be 1/5 of the way there just with this mod money. I mean, even being optimistic and say it takes you from 180 to 220, you still won't even be close to an LS2. Not to mention, heads/cam on an LS engine would take you much much further.

Not trying to deter you from modding the monte- its just a lot of people used to go the NA route on 3800's- and the hp/$ just isn't there compared to a boosted setup- much less compared to modding LS engines.

That really is a lot of money for relatively small gains... You'd be lucky to get mid-low 14's in the quarter mile.

Search for Grand Am performance parts. They had the 3400 as well. If you're really serious about getting into the performance of your 3400, you should visit http://www.60degreev6.com and check out their forum. I've never joined, but lots of knowledgable people about 60* V6 motors specifically are up there.

whats this whole stage 2 deal. are the heads just ported? or are they his own castings? at the point you could probably just take your heads of and have them ported. it shoukd be cheaper than getting there heads.
