Yes- someone with an actual pcm tuner (DHP PT or HPT) can turn down, or can completely eliminate most TQ abuse settings. You have to be careful though-with everything turned completely off, you have potential to do a good bit of damage.

A knowledgeable tuner will answers all of those questions that you have, and know exactly what to do if you ask.

With an OEM factory pcm tune- no. Like I said, get a real tuner- you can turn on/off what settings you want, then you can do all the burnouts you want. As far as GM goes- it seems like the newer the car, the more protection it has.

IMO its really not a bad idea- these cars are not made or marketed to be used in any kind of racing- they're made to be basic transportation/daily drivers. So by putting protection on everything- they end up with less warranty work, and fewer breakages/more reliable cars, so they end up getting better reliability ratings and more money in the end.

Honestly, thats getting to be one thing I am hating about the monte. Even with the 245 bfg kdw2's- the thing is pretty much impossible to launch-even from a low speed roll. I am working on a solution though

if it has to deal with a small rocket engine, a can of mayonnaise, and a size 14mm socket.... im 2 steps ahead of you.

But seriously... short of stripping the car a crap ton or adding a boost, what could you do?

I'll post up more details once work gets underway- we're currently still in the process of house-hunting, so the monte is in storage (its too cold to even think about driving anyways). Once I get the monte into a garage of my own, and I get cracking on the project- I'll post some pics and info.

Right now, I'm just collecting parts for it.
