Default Rpm drop on my 07 SS

Hey everyone. I have been experiencing some trouble with my 07 Monte SS. When I am going down the highway around 60 mph and hit the brakes to stop the rpms will drop down to nearly 300 at about 30-35 mph then jump back up to around 1000 or so. The car died twice the other day and every time you can feel it almost stop running. The issue happens nearly every time i slow down from highway speeds. Any guesses on what it could be? I was told once today it might be the Torque converter staying locked up too long.

Thanks for the help

Zach

Try cleaning your MAF sensor too.

Hi `Zack,
Sorry to read about your problem with you Monte, but it's great to see you online & that you are OK...
Post a update on our Blog & tell us what's been happening in your life. I hope one of our member's can help on your problem. Sure hope it's something minor...

How long has it been happening ?

Does it feel electrical ? fuel ? (When is the last time you change your fuel filter ?)..Is your transmission shifting smooth ? Any hang `up in gears ?

Good Luck 4-Sure

Hey space. Im not sure what it is for sure. I havent changed the fuel filter yet since i got it. But it runs great other than this little hang up issue.

I dont think it is vacuum either. I have plenty on my obd scanner. I might take a video of it to help out

Check Throttle body too. After you get it off if you can see light around the edge its good if not then it needs cleaned. I was going to say MAF also but if it idels smooth then prob not MAF.

Imo it sounds like a tranny related issue like its not downshifting or the torque converter like you said

You can't change the fuel filter, that's why you haven't :p
