Default Power steering

I think this is the right section for this, but I cant figure out what my cars problem is. It runs fine but after the engine gets pretty warm the power steering stops working, it locks the wheel up. Lately Ive been running with defrost on to keep it cool so it wont happen. Also it gets loud, like a whining noise and my lights get a bit dimmer. Any Idea whats going on?

IDK, sounds to me like your power steering pump is going bad. Also possibly that you are very low on PS fluid...

Could the belt be slipping when it gets warm? I would think the sound is easy enough to recognize...

there should be a in line filter in the power steering lines it could be clauged take it to a shop to have it flushed out. it should help also every 10k miles it should be changed do to how fast the pump spins just as fast as the engine. so check that first.
