Default Performance chips on the market?

I keep hearing about people installing performance chips to raise their HP in their cars. Mainly folks with BMW's... are there any (good) ones for our cars? has anyone here installed one (on a monte or any other car)?

Our Monte's don't use "performance chips". What you have to do is have your PCM reflashed. The place that I always go to is www.zzperformance.com.

What year is your Monte and does it have a 3800 in it?

There's a whole lot you can do to your engine to raise its HP. Don't think you'll be racing BMWs with just a simple reflash of your PCM though.

However, ironically I destroyed a 525i yesterday lol.

zzperformance.com under Grand Prix section. Also read this thread (you have an L36):

Very cool! There are LOTS of different modifications available for the 3800 and if you check out Chibi's link, you'll see just about all of your options. If I were you, I wouldn't start by reflashing the PCM. Do some work on the engine and then get the PCM tuned. You'll see much better results from that.

Have fun with your Monte and be warned, once you start you just can't stop. I always thought I would be done around 200whp, lol.

Oh believe me I'm already on the addictive bandwagon. It's difficult for me cause I'm broke now but I'm constantly adding things to my to-do list.

So. Much. Fun.

So I have to ask, what are some things that this forum in general tends to do to their engines?

That thread shows most of the things that you can do to a 3800 too if you want to see all of your options.
