Talking Performance Chips

So, having figured out i'll be having my monte for a long while, I decided to put forth the effort into trying to make it a little faster. I found a chip, not sure about it because it seem way to simple.

I'm also thinking about, swapping out my air filter with a K&N, and change the plugs and wires on it, fuel filter, pcv, and do some work to the exhaust (not sure where to start there). Scrub the hell out of my engine. Dress it up best i can, new wheels (18" this time), maybe lower it...then, possibly....slap a 3.8 supercharged in her and make it meh race car!....ok, maybe just a "race around town" car lol.

Just out of curiosity, i did some research on here before posting, and i found some chips were frying peoples PCM's. Just wasnt clear on it, what chips should i stay away from? Obviously the ones that advertise on ebay for 750hp gains for a $20 chip <----lol wtf?. Anyways, found a JET Power Programmer for the LS 3.4L engine.

they always look good on paper, but i wonder does it really work. when you try going to dyno results, they dont show it. the only thing it actually shows you is how to install it!

Unless you can verify that it works from another user, they are all B.S. You need a tune, not a "chip"

Personally, I would stay away from it. It basically changes the resistance that the computer reads for your intake air temp which tells the computer that the air outside is colder than it really is which in turn tells the injectors to stay open a bit longer, dumping more fuel. You get more power because there's more fuel, but is it worth it in the long run? In the end, how much damage does it do to your engine?

You need to stay away from those "Performance Chips" If you want to keep your car running in one piece. If you really want to get performance out of your car, get an HP tuner. They aren't cheap and the learning curve is steep, but you are better off than damaging you PCM and spending $1300.00 for a new PCM plus reprogramming it.

Sounds good enough to me haha. So, instead of putting in an L67, I'd figure I'd just get a 3400 crate motor, with stage 3 NA heads and cam...or maybe stage 3 heads and cam for a supercharger....would a supercharger, like a centrifugal one for a GrandAm 3.4L work in my engine bay (also a 3.4L) ?
