Default Overheating like crazy....

Hello everyone i own a 2004 Monte Carlo SS Intimidator. She has 140,000 miles on her. i'm the 2nd owner i've had her for 3 yrs and now im getting SEVERELY discouraged.i bought her with about 70,000 miles. it all started to go wrong about a year ago. i was leaving work and noticed the car was running a little hot (2 notches above half). i stopped and checked the reservoir it was a little low so i stopped at advance and bought the dexcool coolant. it did ok for a few days then it started again. i brought it to a local mechanic and changed the hose on the left and the right. it ran ok for a week the started running hot again...i took it back changed the tiny plastic elbows that he said cracked. on the way back home it started to overheat AGAIN...i took it back we changed the thermostat and the fans are working correctly. the car has been bled of air and we checked the coolant color still death-cool orange and idk what to do. im thinking maybe i need a flush but i took it to chevrolet and they said it might not clear up everything up. i just need another opinion and maybe some help. i live in atlanta and id love if a fellow mc forum knows a mechanic in the area who could help me out. i have spent close to $1000 in repairs and the car is still running hot. Some interesting comments i have is the car reaches half in about 8-10 mins and the red in about 20 mins, when i drive faster the needle goes down but when i stop and idle it spikes up in a matter of seconds im really close to giving up. is there anyone who can help a limp intimidator in atlanta?

You should have flushed this stuff as the first resort. Also try changing your radiator cap

My Monte was running hot Monday (I Think) and it turned out to be the water pump... Have any strange noises or leaks in your driveway?

Check your catylitic converter sometimes they will plug up, in the past ive had all the stuff break loose from the converter and plug up the muffler causing it to overheat. American cars always have problems with the catylitic converters

It's something that (imo) should have been checked when the car was at the shop, but make sure the fins in the AC condenser and the radiator aren't plugged up. The higher speed forces air through them, but at slower speeds and idle there may not be sufficient air flow to keep the coolant at an acceptable temperature.

Just do it yourself, $200 in parts and a day's work. If you were close by, I'd lend a hand
