Default oil guage?

hey guys quick question, about the oil pressure guage, when i accelerate the oil pressure guage moves up to about three quorters to high and when it idles down around 1,000 rpm's it moves from three quorters to like a notch behindhalf is this normal on a chevy? never seen a car do that before..

n if its something wrong is it serious?

thanks again,
Dino

It is normal. It does that on mine all the time. If it goes above 3/4 then I would worry, or below 1/4 I would be totally concerned. Just to alleviate any worries, check your oil level. If it is within limits, then you are fine.

Nothing unusual about a good working oil pressure guage jumping around as you accelerate.

I agree that's fine. More rpm's, more oil pressure. My wife's '99 Silverado is the same way. As long as it doesn't drop to zero, you are ok.

7 lbs. of oil pressure.. lol... thats all you need. well, to keep it from scattering. oil pumps are designed to increase pressure with rpm. typically 10 lbs per 1000 rpm on performance apps.your car is fine!
