New v-8 engine in 00' Monte??
Just out of curiosity.... The new v-8 engines found in a 06-07 monte, can one of those engines be dropped into a 2000? or would that be a waste of time and a lot of hard work?
If you are really interested in doing so, I removed my 5.3 from my '07 and it is available for sale. It dyno'd @ 303 HP exactly. It has 36,400 miles on it. You can call me at 586-419-6760 for more details if you wish.

What I always wanted to do was drop an LS1 (1998-2002 Camaro SS & Trans Am engine) in my 2003 Monte Carlo, the unique sound of the LS1 would DEFINITELY draw heads in a car like mine, xD. Alas, swapping engines in your car that was built and designed to fit a 3.4 or 3.8 V6 will be very tough. You'll have to move and remount so many things inside the engine bay, that you'd end up paying $2,000 AT LEAST for the engine, close to another $1,000 or so for the install and all the parts moved around, then you'd need your PCM retuned, and you'd probably deed a different airbox, a new transmission, since the Tranny in the 2000-2003 Monte Carlo can't handle 300HP without breaking. Altogether, you're looking at over $5,000 in parts and labor, for that price you might as well save up for the 2006-2007 Monte Carlo V8.

Then you need to here my LS4 with the Magnaflow exhaust and what do you mean no aftermarket you just haven't looked. And what do you mean only 300 HP mine has a little more

I still dont see much aftermarket for the LS4 and I did look. Maybe Im looking in the wrong place.
For what its worth, I think swapping for an LS4 isnt cost effective when you can make the same power out of an L67 or L36 for alot less money. That and alot more people have done the swap and I can see it being alot easier and more reliable.
