Question motor mount swap

tried to do some searching, but came up with only how to flip the motor mounts, not change them.

is there a way to change out the square motor mounts without cutting through them? i just bought upper and lower mounts from intense and wanna swap them out. the round ones should be easy, any help with the square ones would be great. thanks!

Though it's cutting.

Personally it doesn't look like cutting through them would be too hard.

I hate to say it, but I really tried getting mine out in one peice too. I figured if you can spin it with WD40, that you should be able to slide it out too- I mean they got it in there somehow right?

After spending about 30 minutes trying to pry / wiggle it out whole, I opted to take the saw and buzz through it- and was done in under 5 minutes. I think if you had access to an arbor press or something that you wouldn't have such a hard time just popping them out.

haha, one would assume if you put it in as one piece, it would come out. thats for the write up blacksheep, and for telling me its not possible as one piece without a expensive tool bumpin. looks like its gonna be a sawzall. did you just cut around the metal piece and pop it out, then take the rest out? the new ones slide in no problem? anything special required to get the new ones in?

I've never done this, but I'd imagine that if you froze the new mounts overnight they would contract a bit and be easier to squeeze into place (the colder the freezer the better).
Otherwise, I think most people tap them in with a mallet IIRC.

Yep- just quickly chopped the metal centers out, and the rest squeezes and comes out easily.

The new ones go in just fine- they shouldn't be excessively tight. If you're having a hard time, just give it a tap with a hammer- or put the bolt/nut through and tighten it.

sounds easy enough for the square mounts, i also got the round mounts too. i was looking and i thought it'd be easier than expected, upon looking at it seems tougher just because they are smaller mounts, less area to be able to cut around. i tried to just take a flathead and pop off the rubber, but didnt work. any suggestions on those?

To be honest, I don't really remember doing them. I put them on my monte awhile back, but I just can't remember how I got the rubber out.

got the front ones in no problem, just cut and replace. pretty easy. since i was having problems with the fuel logs and it went back to my mechanic, i asked him and he just put them in for me. i'll ask him how he did it next time i see him to get the car tuned so it doesnt bog on cold starts, maybe in a week or 2. dunno why i didnt ask him today though. oh well. keep you all posted.

did notice the car has a shake to it, but it doesnt feel horrible. cant really notice it when driving, only when stopped or idle. feels good, nice little shake to it not extreme, just perfect. definately like the intense mounts!

I thought the mounts were supposed to eliminate the shaking?
