Default Mobil 1 5W-30 oil not recommended for S/C or turbo cars?

I had to get some oil today for an upcoming oil change on the Intimidator SS. Went to Wal-Mart for the 5 qt jugs, and the selection was very limited. I was looking for Q horsepower in 5W-30 ($18), but no such luck. So I started looking at the backs of the jugs to see what "claims" to be GM4718M approved. When I picked up the jug of Mobil 1 in 5W30 ($26) I was SHOCKED to NOT find the GM4718M rating on the back! Where I DID find it was on the back of the Mobil 1 0W-30 "Advanced Fuel Economy" oil.

Must be all the battering Mobil 1 took from the competition has caused them to change their labeling!

SO DOES THIS MEAN WE ARE TO NO LONGER RUN MOBIL 1 5W-30 IN OUR S/C and TURBO CARS, BUT WE ARE TO RUN 0W-30 INSTEAD?

The only other jugs of oil carrying the GM4718M approved rating in the label were the synthetic Pennzoil Platinum and Valvoline Synpower ($23). After checking out the Valvoline site just now, I realized I could've gotten a 5 dollar rebate coupon for the Valvoline, saved 3 bucks, and gotten oil that Valvoline claims to be as good as Castrol Edge. I might just take the Mobil 1 0W-30 back and get the Valvoline. Check out the Valvoline web site here:

This is news to me and I sell the stuff. Oil is far too complicated these days. I'll stick with Mobil1 5W30 anyways

For 2004, GM changed the oil pressure spring for the supercharged engines and with the new oil pressure setup they recommend 5w30 year round. The 04+ Grand Prix, as well as the '04-'05 s/c Monte and Impalas call for 5w30.

ZZP sells the updated spring setup as an upgrade for the '03 and before cars.

I don't know I have always stuck with natural Pennzoil Oil for both Montes - 5W30 for Silver and I am guessing 10W30 for Precious (haven't seen Precious since Nov so I forgot what viscosity it takes LOL.
