4th Gen ('81-'88): manual transmission conversion

manual transmission conversion
I currently have a 350 small block with a 700r4 transmission on the car, I am starting to get information to convert to a stick shift, I am not racing I just love to cruise around in the car, I am trying to see if anyone on here has done this conversion before? what kind of transmission have you used? what kind of a car did you get the pedal setup from? what kind of clutch? any kits out there for this? if this helps I also have put in a buick grand national rear end and have 3:33 gear ratios in that rear. take any and all advice on the best set up to use.

I haven't done it myself but here's a link to some parts to use. Also look on montess.com I believe someone there installed a 5 speed from 1980's Camaro.

thank you for the parts listing, for all of the linkage and pedal set ups there is a company called three pedals that has a kit set up for the g-bodies, but still need the transmission and lines fork, etc. I don't believe any of the 6th generations came with manual transmissions, however some of the older ones apparently did from mexico, that's what I have read anyways

There were some G bodies that came with 4 speeds but they are pretty rare. The 1979-83 Malibu and El Camino both had options for manuals. So if you can source this in the junkyard you would be very lucky! Kind of like finding one of the Buick aluminum radiator supports I have read about them but have never actually seen it in person.

6th Gen did not, but he's talking about 4 gen 81-88. The early G bodies had a couple of cars with 4 speeds, the Malibu and El Camino for sure did.
I not only had 3 diff 6th gen, but have a 1987 El Camino SS so know a lot about G bodies as well.
