Manual Shifting an Automatic?
#13
I don't really understand what you're asking, but what typically happens with the tranny's in our Monte's is when you put it into 1st, that automatically puts the tranny into low range. You will not stay in 1st though, after you've revved it high enough the tranny will shift into 2nd but it will not go into 3rd. If you put it into 2nd, you're still putting the tranny in low range and you will only be able to go from 1st to 2nd. 3rd will not be engaged. If you put it into Drive, the tranny will not be in low range and it will go from 1st to 2nd to 3rd, but 4th will not be engaged. Putting the tranny into Drive instead of Overdrive is beneficial if you're either doing city driving or you're on the drag strip due to our weak 4th gear.
