Default LT-1 Swap?

Hi, I'm new on here, and have a question. Has anyone ever done an LT-1 swap on a G Body? If so, I was wondering how much of a nightmare this would be? I always thought it would be cool to open the hood, and see that LT-1 plenum underneath! I know those engines produce either 260, or 300 HP (in Vette's), and would be a big improvement over the 305. And, the gas mileage is pretty good in the Caprices, and Roadmasters. I'm just wondering how much of an electrical nightmare it would be to replace the ECU, and plug in the dash 'idiot' lights, etc.

Thanks,
John

why not just go LS1 then? I have seen it done, i forget where, it's definitely possible but probably a lot of custom work. i'm sure someone else will post on it!

x2 on the LS1. however, those run a bit more spendy than the LT i believe. but in trade you get better reliability, performance, aftermarket, and fuel economy. a cheaper route than the LS1 would be to get either a 5.3 or 6.0 out of the chevy pickups. they are also apart of the LS family as well, and you can stick on most of the ls intakes and heads and whatnot. 5.3 can either be aluminum or iron, and i believe the 6.0 is just iron.

as for the swap portion, you will basically be removing all the guts of your car. gonna need to get the PCM for whatever engine you go with, and also the wiring harness. not exactly certain on how you would be able to get all the lights to function on your dash, but there is a way.
