6th Gen ('00-'05): ls2 motor

I like the response Miller.
Derek, you'll find a couple threads about this on this site if you want to do a search, but in general, you'll have to be one helluva car guy to fit a V8 into your transverse mounted engine bay. But since your question isn't "can it be done," rather, "is it a good idea." I'd say it's a bad idea.
Two options that might be better suited. Just buy a gen IV and put a V8 in that. Or you could get one of the gen VII SS's that have the LS4 in it.
Question to the group, can you retro an LS4 into a gen VI Monte?

pretty sure bumpin is suggesting to just buy a fbody or a corvette.
personally i dont see the point of putting a ls2 in your car. the ls4 is basically a destroked version of a ls2. pick up a 7th gen, swap intake manifolds, put some headers on it, put a 6th gen nose on it, and there you go. same **** more or less, and though you didnt ask its been done before. theres a ls7 one with a turbo, and theres been a couple ls6 ones. to my knowledge theres never been any actual performance numbers on the engine swapped ones, but i dont think that the extra cubes the other lsx motors would give you over the ls4 would be worth the trouble, or money. there are na ls4s deep in the 12s and fi ls4s running flat 11s.
