Thoughts? opinions? I'm curious about this engine all Ik so far its a small block and pumps out a decent amount of hp. Mid 300s depending on the car.

 

Not a bad engine, a guy I know has a mid 80's Monte and I believe he has one of those in his car, running high 7's at the 1/8th mile...

 

that's pretty cool. and quiet the impressive punch. does this only fit in the 80s carlos

 

Couldn't tell ya, if you have a '95 or newer Monte, you'll need to change to RWD...

 

Supposed to be decent motors. They are one of the worst sufferers of the piston slap problems GM V8s were having for a while. They make good power and a decent amount of low end torque. They move the big trucks and SUVs along pretty well. Wouldnt be my first choice for a car but if you could get it for cheap then it may be worth using.

 

I just got one that will soon be put in the monte.Very desirable engines lots of people want them they can make some serious power really easy.Stock lq4 is 300hp an 360tq a lq9 is 345hp an 380tq not to many diferences in the engine mostly compression an ecm.Almost all the parts for a ls1/ls2/ls6/5.3/4.8 interchange with them.
