Default Looking to put a new 350 in my monte but need help

Morning guys.

I am thinking about putting in a new 350 in my 86 monte ss to replace the stock 305. I have no clue as to what I need. Everything in this car is original and clean. I was wondering which 350 would be best to swap out and if I need to change anything around or add other parts. Also was wondering if the stock tranny is enough and or compatible with a 350 or do I have to or should I upgrade. Thsnks a bunch.

Is this car going to be for showing/cruising or racing?
What kind of carburetor is currently on your 305? Still a quadrajet?
Stock tranny on an 86 should be TH-200-4R and yes it is compatible with a 350, but it also depends on your intended use of the car as to which tranny would give you the best performance for your purpose.
I am no expert by any means but I will try to help you out with what I can or places to go to find the answers.
And there are MANY others on here that know WAYYYYYY more than I do and can provide you with tons of information!

It well all swap right over but you will probably want more rows in your radiator. Also the 200r4 trans will need to be swaped for a 700r4 if you get a engine with 275 or more hp there not a very strong trans. My father owns a automotive machine shop and I have put lots of engines in vehicles and if your changing between a 305 and 350 there's nothing to it but to swap them out all the accessories will fit right back in the same place unless you put different parts on the engine like intake, exhaust manifolds, or older heads without the accessories bolt holds.

It should do great with the 350. And as for the trans i swaped my 200r4 with a th350 and didn't have to change a thing.

I am not planning on racing. Just nice driving and occasionally hitting the pedal on the highway to hear her roar. I do havexs set of dual flies super 44 from the cat back on it already. I am planning on changing the trsnnys as well with the engine. But would like to do the engine first and then save some money and do the tranny.
As far as engined go what should I choose for the car. I was looking at the Chevy website.

KINGBASS- Is there anything wrong with the current engine/tranny you have (other than age)? You could always refurbish what you already have!

no i bought the car from a collector who garaged it. the car starts up great and runs great. under the hood was very well taking care of. my mechanic gave it a ounce over and said that i have a pretty sweet car. and that it is rare to see a old classic like this in this good of shape. i would rathe not touch anything on he 305. for reason if i decided to sell the car i would like to have the untouched stock 305. i like the idea of the 350 because well lol i just want in it. i want her to move a bit. i just dont know which 350 sb would be a great choice for the car. i have reading online and there are so many options that guys are using. i am no drag racer but like a little powerunder the hood.
