Alright, usually i can figure this out on my own, but i am stumped this time... mainly because i cant reproduce the noise when revving in neutral, nor when brake is applied when revving.

At 2500-3500 rpm only when im at quarter to half throttle, i hear a knocking /rattling noise that sounds like it may be coming from the engine or the exhaust.

When im at partial throttle, or full throttle, you dont hear it at all.

I just put turn downs on my exhaust and took off the tips that went straight out the back. Thions noise didnt start until i did the turndowns... Any ideas?

I don't know how a down turned tip would cause that, but maybe it is some-how blocking the flow ?

Does your exhaust system have a butterfly type device that regulates the exhaust flow ?

I hope one of our expert exhaust system member's can help you...Did you try taking `off the down turns & see `if it still happens...That's all that my tired mind can suggest this morning...Good Luck & wish you a Great WeekEnd

 

No, the turn down is definately a higher flow than what i had before, but its also louder inside with the than before... What i previously had was a center exit exhaust what had a 90° bend crushing it before it exited. Now its just 2 1/2" turn downs... Im thinking it either reverbing off the road or just a picky lifter... I dont have a SES light, but i also possibly need a tune up... The engine has over 100,000 miles and the original plugs and wires.

 

It did always make a sort of rattling noise that the exhaust being louder inside the car could make seem louder or differant from before.
