Default K&N X-Stream Opinions?

So I'm thinking of breaking down and buying a K&N X-Stream air filter. In theory it should provide a pretty good performance advantage, but the question is, does it work in the real world? Or should I say, does it work well enough to spend the extra money? Like I said in "theory" I can see where it should really help flow more air. But does anybody have any experience, or any tests they have seen on this product?

Before I get rid of my nice ball milled air cleaner, I want to make sure the performance really backs up it's claims.

Is that filter different than the reg drop in K & N filter? I never heard of it.

when you have a round filter on your car, instead of putting a chrome topper on it this is a filter element topper, alows more flow and everything

I had one on my 1990 5.7L Silverado before I went with the FIPK.I liked it...made a great sound. Sounded like a vacuum. People asked me if I had a blower on it from the sound it made. I got slightly better performance with the FIPK, but I still prefer the sound the X-stream made.

Hope that helps.
