Default K&N Air Filter....

So I plan on putting a cold air intake on my Monte but need to save the cash 1st....in the meantime should I even bother with a K&N air filter? DO they make that much of a difference? Thanks in advance.......

If you planning on getting a CAI, then just save the $50bucks and put it toward your CAI. You will not feel any difference in the seat of your pants with just the filter.

The benefits of the K&N filter is that it filters a little better, and you clean it instead of replacing it. So if you were to just keep the standard air filter forever (and never go CAI) you will save some money in the long run.

But skip it and go for the CAI

I myself am not a fan of K&N. even though you can clean them, they get clogged after awhile and have to be thrown away. the best option is to just shorten up your stock air box and to remove any pieces of restriction.

exactly what has been said, just get a good wix filter for now, it will work just as good, until you get your money saved up to buy your intake

no im just saying that cold air intakes are expensive and not all cracked up to what they say they do. I used to have a fuel injection car and i tried cold air kits and all those aftermarket stuff and I tried building my own intake out of 3 inch plumbing pipe and i found that worked best. Just saying building it yourself is better than off the shelf. but definitely run a air filter.
