Default interesting problem! Z34

Well as some of you know i have a tuner for my car. well the other day i went for a top speed run. and at about 120mph SES starts flashing (gov on the car is 118 but starts to limit speed at 115) the gov however has been reset to 170 (max rating for my tires but still above car's topspeed i think) well at 120 the car shifted into 4th gear! thta is how the trany was programed. well turns out 3900rpm in 4th at 120, the car doesnt have enough Tq to push thru to accelerate! the car went from showing 0-54 misfires in .1'th of a sec!

the car is fine. driving good as ever. i think i have the problem resolved, by moving the 3rd -4th shift point to 130mph and no less then 6500rpm. i have heard from a friend that 6500 in 3rd should be good for 145+mph. not that i ever will test it.

just figured i would post up this tidbit of info... GM set the shift point there! why? i guess to create a safety net incase the car got into a situation that the gov didnt activate? odd cause both that shift and the gov are both part of the computer. well thats all for now folks!

why would they make your 4th gear shift so far out?

so your top was 120mph?

you should be abel to get a bit more out of it. as long as you have good road etc...

goo dluck and do it safely

well they didnt expect the car to get ot 4th at WOT. the gov should have shut me down before it got there. but thanks to my programer no more gov. i now have the 4th shift point much higher. i prob wont push the car again for a long time. but atleast i know that it can get up there in a hurry and next time it wont be having probs.
