Intake install problems
#11
This is whaat mine ended up looking like after doing 3 different intake setups. i personaly think it is worth it because i like my intake set up alot more then just the K&N one (no offense if you have one) but it makes it my own not jsut something i bought

You are talking about MPG gains + HP gains + your engine will keep cooler easier + you will inhale better (so you'll have to get it to exhale better too)
it's a very good mod. So either fix what you have, or save up and get a kit. These engines can mod easily, but it does add up if you don't want to spend the time and stress doing it custom.
Welcome to the frustration of modding

You don't really need a PCM tray.
The idea is to keep the PCM tray from moving around the engine bay when you're driving.
What i did was took a bungee cord (a red one even, to match the theme of my car's paint job) and strapped the PCM down to the radiator support brace that is under the airbox. Was like a 50 cent solution.
That sucker isn't going anywhere now.

Hmmm...well I think I'm going to figure this out then. I think I'll use bungee plus zip ties. The only problem is that the air filter I bought has a hole is too small for my hose. Can anyone think of a hose/pipe that can go from 3inches to 4inches?

if your filter is a 3" hole going to a 4" hole it's not going to be a good free flowing filter for your set-up. This is why we are against those fake cheap-o intakes. lol
trying to cut corners to save money, still leaves you with cut corners.
My best advice might be to try to return some stuff, and get the proper size filters and things, but if you want to make those work, I'm sure you can go to any autoparts / home improvement place and get a 3->4 pipe / attachment.

You can buy reducing couplers online that will go from 3" to 4". They should have them at autozone (or similar stores)too, as I think Spectre makes some.
You may need a short piece of metal tubing to clamp everything together depending on what tubing you are using.
If I were you though, I would try to return the filter if at all possible and get one with a 4" opening.
