Default Hard Shifts

For sometime now my 05 ls has been shifting hard after an hour or so of driving. It seemed to start sometime last year. I am wondering what could be the cause of the hard shifts? Fluid getting to hot? Too much fluid? (FYI car has never had a tranny flush. 55,000miles). Tranny filter clogged up? Just wonder what you guys think.

Thanks

Could be a shift solenoid.

But check the fluid anyway and see what's going on with it.

I would start with dropping the pan and changing the fluid/ filter. That alone might help things quiet a bit.

Otherwise, I would agree, its probably a shift solenoid.

A bad shift solenoid would cause hard shifts all the time, not just when the transmission is hot.

I tend to think a fluid and filter change would go a long way in this case. Upgrade to Dex VI and drop a new filter in it and I bet your problems go away.

How hot is the car running? Is it overheating or close to it?

No the car is not overheating any. The closet it gets is the 2nd mark below the halfway mark on the temp gauge.

Remote start wont hurt anything. The shift solenoid cant be changed out very easy, and when I say very easy, I mean you need to rebuild the tranny or get a new one. Am I correct? Mine went out, and besides the hard shifts my 3rd gear went out.
