Default forged pistons

Does the L36 3.8L come with forged pistons directly from the dealer?

I would have to guess and say they are cast, not forged.

I believe they are sintered, neither of the above. Might be wrong.

What is sintered? Im not familiar. I thought there were only cast and forged. I dont think they are forged so I assumed cast. Im more likely to be wrong.

No, the pistons are hypereutectic which is used due to less thermal expansion than forged pieces.

As long as the vehicle is properly tuned, there should never be a reason to change to anything else- as they will handle anything that can be thrown at them- as can the rest of the cast bottom end parts.

forged pistons are usually for racing/high horsepower applications (400+),and high compression situations. your 3.8L won't ever make that much horsepower, although it would be nice

The high 8 second zzp car is still on a stock bottom end, and iirc they were doing 600+ whp. The stock pistons are not an issue as long as your tune is good.

IMO, the money you would spend on forged pistons and a full bottom end rebuild is much better spent on more mods.
