First New Part for the Monte in Awhile
Back to the main topic, I'm starting to look into a clutch / flywheel now. The easy drop in stuff would obviously be for a t5 3800 camaro, but the clutch size seems to be very limiting for power. Even the high end street Spec stuff was only like 400 ft lb torque. The race stuff goes higher, but theres no way I'm dealing with a hardcore race clutch on something that at absolute best will only make 600ish whp.
I'm wondering if there's a way to squeeze a full sized LS clutch and flywheel in there. This adapter uses a t56 bell, and it looks like the t5 and t56 spline counts are the same, so the only limiting factor might be the 3800 block clearance. Will have to dig into that more.
I did find an Australian company (NPC) that supposedly has a twin disk for this setup but their website is miserable and I haven't got an email response.
I'm curious as to how it will look once the engine is mounted for RWD and how everything will fit... I also wonder how many passes you could do on that stock 4t65 before it decides to quit.
Very sorry to hear that! I'm very glad I moved from a state towards the bottom 1/4 of most lax DUI laws to the #1 strictest. No doubt it doesnt stop everyone, and IMO its still not severe enough, but I really do think there's a positive impact to reducing DUI because of it.
DUI wrecks make me sick. Personally knew several people lose their lives because of it back at home. People gamble with other people / kids lives just for a night of fun, its pretty sickening.
Similar feelings towards those who drive uninsured. Costs me extra because they dont feel like paying. I also think the penalties for that should be much more severe as well as it can be devastating to someone else if they cause a wreck and the other people aren't properly covered for uninsured / underinsured.
I've also had my fill of insurance. Its like its their job to get the settlement down to the absolute bare minimum that they can get away with legally - house, car, health, whatever.
What makes it worse is that they bury you in a pile of paperwork to review and agree to within your policy written by their pro legal team. Then they get you for all kinds of weasel word clauses to reduce their costs. I really don't feel like the average person has a good grasp on what they're really signing up to as it seems like focus #1 of most is always price, which in turn rewards the behavior above of cutting cost wherever possible.
At least auto insurance isn't quite as bad as medical. Ive never dealt with such absurd amounts of time of the phone arguing about coverage all because 'someone mustve coded it wrong'.

The drunk drivers insurance had not lapsed as the Police had indicated before.
My son was contacted by them to get on track they were going to accept his insurance companies estimate on the damage to the vehicle being totaled.
You would be surprised on what the estimator dinged him on. ( Dust in the engine compartment) I was like what?
So the moral of this story is if you get into a fender bender make sure you car has been detailed prior to or right after the wreck.
Now if your current company has one of those (little Black Umbrella's on the insurance Card) Run I mean run to find a new company immediately. Get it changed!!

Well it seems we have a bit of a positive update:

I'm not surprised at all with the estimator though. My GP was generally the same thing. They came in fairly low initially for all sorts of silly stuff, came up some what but then wouldn't budge any more. There were no equivalent actual GPs for sale that were comparable that I could've bought with what they gave me (part of what lead me to look into putting cash on top to ultimately get the GTO), so I was very frustrated as the whole intent is that youre supposed to be made whole again if youre hit by someone else.
I asked the lawyer about it, and agreed they could get more, but that Id probably net less as they'd then take their fee out of that too. So I just kept the lawyer for the medical portion and took the insurance best offer on the car.
That's what sucks about wrecks, its a lose lose for everybody involved.
