Engine Tilter?

Engine Tilter?
I have been looking at doing my spark plugs and came across some ideas for making it an easier job. I am just wondering if anyone has tried any of these. (I will be using it on an 02' Monte)
1.) GM engine tilter for transverse mounted engines. (If you have one or used one what one did you use where did you get it ect.)

2.) The trick of rolling the car back and forth with the mounts un-bolted. (I hear good and bad things about this.)
I am leaning more on the engine tilter because I hear that is what they use at dealerships and so on but just want some opinions.

man that type is way to small for the eyes to see, but there are some posts on here about changing plugs and tilting the motor? welcome to the MCF, we are happy to help!! see ya soon, later man!!

what i've done in the past (on my past vehicles, and similar gm's) is unbolted the dogbones and used a come-along with one end on the engine hook and the other end on a solid anchor (in the shop, the trailer hitch on my dad's pickup works well). doing this gets me just enough room with a long socket extension and a swivel socket to get the plugs out. oh and another tip, wear gloves when doing this so you save your knuckles. i've learned this the hard way

Have you tried just unbolting the engine mounts- pulling the engine forward by hand and sticking a piece of wood or something between the alternator and firewall?
I don't think I'd spend $40 for a tilter, when you're only changing something easy like plugs- and its something you shouldn't really have to do more than maybe 1 or 2 more times for the life of the car, you know?

That's why there is a 2nd hole in the left mount, so you can put a bolt inthere and hold the engine forward. I got a pic posted somewhere on that. Unbolt the 2 cross bolts, put the car in neutral, and roll the engine forward with a breaker bar, and put the bolt in the forward hole. Takes less than 5 minutes, zero cost.

I wouldnt bother with the tilter either, really. Yeah it might be OK/nice but with the way I change plugs on these cars, they'd be in my way, i think.
Similar to drew, I remove the dog bones, then i just use a regular ratchet strap...if you dont have one, a simple one from auto parts store is less than 10 bucks. (no need for a heavy come-a-long just for this) on the front lift hook on the motor, the other on a sturdy point on the wall of the garage (stud bolted shelf braket in my case) I didnt find that rocking the motor forward gave enough room for me.
