Default Engine swap?

I recently purchased a 95 monte carlo from a friend. It had been a show car and I intend to keep it that way. But I want more power, it has a 3.4L DOHC V6. I was wondering if anyone knew if you can put a older chevy engine like a 400 small block or if that wouldn't fit? Or if there was something i can do to this engine to make it have a lot more power. I know some things about cars just not everything, I've helped with engine rebuilds and swaps on older chevy pickups but i'm just not sure about cars I guess... YouTube - ‪84 MONTE CARLO SS BURNOUT‬‏ this is what i want it to sound like though. Like a muscle car. Not sure if it can be done but just wondering right now.

Just do the research on an L67 (supercharged 3800) swap. It will be the easiest and you can easily build those engines over 300hp

x2 if you would want to make it in to a rear wheel drive with a 400 block it will take a lot of metal fabrication to the fire wall and the center as well as the rear end. to make it all work. it will be the best l67 (supercharged 3800 power train) to be put in it.

the link to the car that you posted is the gen 5 monte on a 78-88 gbody frame. i doubt that its an easy job, but im sure its easier than building your own tube chassis.

If you have the 4t60e then yes, but if you have the 4t65e then you will be fine. I forget what the 95 z34 has.

Have you checked out this link?

It's a good read.

yes you will need the trans as well. The 95-96 montes had the 4t60e and the l67 cars had the 4t65e hd. An L67 will toast a 4t60e.

A 400 ci SBC will definitely fit. GM put the LS4 in the newer generation montes- and that is also a SBC- so there is no reason why you couldn't do a stroker LS4 with new cylinder sleeves to get 400 ci and still have a "relatively" drop in engine/trans assembly. Of course that would be stupid expensive though...

If you're talking about an old SBC (and I assume making it RWD)- you can put any size engine you want in there. Plenty of drag cars and NASCAR have used the monte carlo body on a tube chassis to run all kinds of combos. If you need more room up front- I've seen 8" extended front ends from some of the places that make the fiberglass bodies for these. Obviously this would be even more stupid expensive than option #1.

If you want a V8 like that- why not look for a 4th gen or something, they're pretty cheap and at least another V8 would be an easy bolt in.
