Engine Stumbling at Highway Speeds

Hey everyone so basically if im on the highway lightly accelerating between 50-70mph i get this stumbling with a slight rpm drop and fall between 50-100rpms. if i accelerate harder it goes away and i have no other idle or driveability issues.

I replaced the plugs and wires with acdelco brand and new air filter and fuel filter a few months ago . I also cleaned the maf and iac. no really sure if i should be looking more towards the engine or tranny. maybe bad o2 sensors or a vacuum leak or TPS:confused:

Its a '97 3.1L with 92k

thanks if anyone can help:thumbsup:

Is it possible that its just the torque converter coming and going? or maybe going in and out of overdrive, but thats usually more than 100rpms.

Could be a lot of things. Is the SES light on? Could be a plugged cat, bad gas... Or a tranny issue as mentioned above, with the torque converter or maybe a tranny solenoid. Couldn't hurt to check your tranny fluid.

I noticed the same problem with mine yesterday, but I haven't done plugs or fuel filter yet.

Fuel pump? I know when my fuel pump was going on my truck it bogged real bad in the 40-65 mph zone... I switched from the front tank to the rear and it completely stopped...

I googled the problem... Many different fixes, pcv valve, fuel regulator, fuel pump, o2 sensor, vacuum leak, map sensor , torque convertor , egr valve, coil packs, plate under coil packs, plug wires . I don't know were I'm gonna start at.

mwjames, just so you know what you're looking for if this does end up being the case: the plate under the coil packs is the Ignition Control Module.
