Sounds like lifter tick to me. Does it go away once its warm? Could be a pulley too never know.

It didn't really sound deep enough to me to be a rod. I agree, I think it could be lifter tick. It's had to tell for sure from the video. I would get a mechanics stethoscope and use that to try and determine where the noise is coming from. Shortly after I got my Monte, it started doing this...

Just to have a peace of mind, run the engine without the belt in order to know whether or not one of your pullies are going bad. Otherwise, it could very well be lifter tick.

I would agree that it doesn't sound like much, lifter tick maybe. I think my cars got quite a bit more of a knock than yours and im not even concerned.

I'm guessing that's just the sound of the k&n intake since you just installed it.

I'm not sure what everyone else's opinion is on it, but I had a 2003 Blazer that had a lifter ticking fairly badly. I used some engine flush on it and then did a good oil change with some synthetic oil. It stopped the tick, and it never came back. I think it just had a lifter sticking and flushing the engine must have cleared out whatever sludge was making it stick. Might be worth a shot since you just got the car, and usually people can't be too sure how well a vehicle was maintained before they buy it.
