5th Gen ('95-'99): engine just stopped running

engine just stopped running
car is a 97 z34 120,xxx miles
OK what happened was I was driving home from work. then engine just stopped completely. I tried turning it on again, nothing happened just the starter ran the engine threw its strokes but doesn't turn over. Prior to this the engine ran like a dream and started every time. Only things wrong were I am burning a little bit of oil from the valve stems, and slight drop in horse power(doesn't burn rubber anymore even when I stomp on it just slides then goes).
here is what I checked after getting towed.
-serp belt
-timing belt
-we tried diagnosing the batt and alternator but even having it plugged in to a 50 amp charger for about an hour we couldn't start it just did the same thing.
then we ran out of day light. Tomorrow I will post a video if requested, but first we are charging it over night and going to try the alternator/batt test again. any and all ideas r welcomed thanks!

ok charging system was a bust. I just got into the engine instead of just looking at the check covers for the belts. I took the cover off to see the whole timing belt. There was 3 fingers worth of slack but the tensioner looks and idler pulleys r in good shape. i believe either the hydrolic actuator went bad or the belt itself just got stretched out and the timing gradually slipped leaving to the lack of power, then the timing went to hell and here we are. hopefully my valves arent screwed
