there is a lot of talk about e85 and the hot rod sene. saying it will give more performance even to a stock motor.
I've honestly never heard that before. Anyone who would tell you that 93 octane gas, or E85 would make more power on an engine made to run on 87 doesn't know a whole lot about cars.

DO NOT USE E85!!! IT WILL RUIN YOUR ENGINE PREMATURELY!!!!!

One of my friends works in the GM engine test facility and he said that they couldn't get any engine to go over 75000 miles running on E85! After hearing this, and all of the other problems with it, I will never run a drop of E85 through my car. On the other hand, some people think that E85 will make corn that you buy in the store either become very rare or expensive or both. This couldn't be farther from the truth though, because the corn that is used for E85 is FIELD CORN. The corn you eat is SWEET CORN. You wouldn't want to eat an ear of field corn from one of our fields if I gave it to you to eat, because it is almost impossible to chew; it was meant for cattle feed and seed. There, I will get down off of my soap box now and end my rant on this. for now at least.

So what is failing on these engines then?

thats what i am trying to figure out on what he said the engins failing using e85. majority of the police fleet and state vehicles in amarica are flex style of vehicles they would grind to a halt using e85 gas if there is a problem with the e85 gas

hay bumpin you already are all gas now has at least 3 to 10 percent ethenal at all gas stations. that quote that you made is under rated on not using it we all are every time we fill up half of the gas is ethenal. if e85 is doing damage to the engins the government and the people will stand up and say fix our cars now and stop making half ethenal and half reg gas

not all fuel has ethanol in it only when it is shown with a sticker or something to have it in it.....where i am from 87 has none what so ever 89 has up to 10% and 91 has none then e-85 has 85% ethanol 15% gas......it will tell you that it has a percentage in it other wise it doesn't.....thats like saying that all diesel has a percentage of biodiesel in it.....or your shredded american cheese as some swiss mixed in there.....i will tell you if it is there so just look for the label....i use 89 here and i have no problems with the 10% ethanol it lowers the price so your getting a higher octane for cheaper or equal price....i'll take that for the added knock protection
